In an
exclusive
interview
with
Costa
Rica's
television
news
Telenoticias,
Edén
Pastora
or
Comandante
Cero,
now
wanted
in Costa
Rica on
charges
of
damage
to the
environment,
says the
Isla
Calero
is 100%
in
Nicaragua
and his
country's
military
forces
are not
on Costa
Rican
soil.

Pastora is the key figure in the Nicaragua - Costa Rica conflict.
As Nicaragua president Daniel Ortega's man in charge of the dredging of the San Juan river, he ordered his army to make camp, cut down trees and is alleged to begin building an artificial canal on the island that Costa Rica claims.
Pastora assures that Costa Rica will be defeated at The Hague, referring to Costa Rica's decision to file a claim on Thursday with the International Court of Justice, the same court that ruled on the navigational rights of the river in July 2009 after 10 years of bickering between the two countries.
Costa Rica is relying on official maps presented by Nicaragua to the International Court during that case to make its claim of ownership of the Isla Calero. |
Meanwhile,
Pastora
is a
wanted
man in
Costa
Rica
that is
considering
of
filing
an
international
wanted
order
with the
international
police
organization,
Interpol.
