Women Make Up Majority
Of Brazil's Rich
BRASILIA - Women made up the majority of
Brazil's wealthiest population, according to
a study by Serasa Experian Consulting
released on Monday.
Among the richest and most prosperous people
in the South American country, 4.9 million
were women and 4.7 million were men,
according to the study.
The study was based upon data from the
census and the National Household Sample
Survey (PNAD), both conducted by the
Brazilian Institute of Geography and
Statistics (IBGE).
Cristina Panella, Ph.D. in sociology and one
of the study's executors, said that the
result of the survey highlighted the growing
trend of women making it into senior
positions.
"There is still disparity. It would be fair
if 50 percent of women held positions of
senior executives," said Panella.
The study also showed that women in Brazil
were more enthusiastic about ascending to
higher social status than men were.
