Zapote
in
Pictures
From
Christmas
day to
the
first
Sunda in
the New
Year,
thousands
flock to
Zapote
for the
year end
festivities,
that
include
junk
food,
rides,
megabars
and of
course
the
bulls.
It is a
Costa
Rica
tradition
for
'aficionados'
(amateurs)
to enter
the "redondel"
(bull
ring
arena)
and run
in front
of the
bulls.
The bull
doesn't
always
lose, is
a line
from a
joke
that
comes to
mind.
The
bulls
are a
staple
at most
of the
other
festivals
that
will
take
place
around
the
country
during
the
coming
months.
However,
the
Zapote
Fair is
the
first
and
largest
of the
season.
The
following
photos,
from the
camera
of
Carlos
Ulate,
tell the
whole
story.
