Says
Relations
with USA
Respectful

Daniel
Ortega
said
Saturday
that his
country's
relations
with the
United
States
are
respectful,
despite
gossip
from the
U.S.
embassy
in
Managua.
Speaking
to
reporters,
Ortega
said the
comments
from the
U.S.
embassy
quoted
in
supposed
diplomatic
cables
posted
by the
WikiLeaks
website,
came
about
because
of what
he
called
sell-out
traitors
who used
baseless
lies to
invent
many
negative
things
about
the
Sandinista
government
and its
institutions.
Ortega
said
that his
government
is
always
desirous
of
maintaining
good
relations
with the
United
States
government.
Ortega
also
stated
that the
United
States
is angry
with
people
from
so-called
Nicaraguan
civil
society
who,
despite
having
been
paid one
million
USD,
have not
fulfilled
their
mission
of
subverting
order in
the
country.
Nicaragua
will
always
work
with the
U.S.
government
on all
points
of
agreement,
such as
the
fight
against
drug
trafficking,
but of
course
there
are
other
aspects
where
there is
no
reciprocity
and on
which
they can
not
work,
the
president
said.
For
relations
between
Latin
American
and
United
States
to
change,
first
the
attitude
of the
empire
toward
Latin
America
must
change,
because
many
countries
in the
region
are no
longer
willing
to bow
down, he
said.
Times
have
changed
with the
emergence
of
progressive
governments,
he
noted.
Moreover,
Ortega
reiterated
that he
is
willing
to go to
Costa
Rica to
meet
with
President
Laura
Chinchilla,
but in
the
context
of
respect
and
without
conditions
of any
kind.
"Chinchilla,
whom we
greatly
respect,
suggested
a
meeting
with
witnesses.
Well I
propose
Cuba,
Venezuela
or
Mexico,
but not
the
Organization
of
American
States,
because
they
have
nothing
to do
with
these
matters,"
Ortega
said.
