“gordo”
navideño

Christmas
lottery
- sales
have
begun to
pick up,
for
according
to the
Junta de
Protección
Social
(JPS)
two
thirds
of all
tickets
are
already
in the
hands of
players.
The
state
lottery
operator
sais
that
vendors
have
sold 63%
of all
issued
tickets
and
compared
to last
year,
sales
within
two
weeks of
the draw
are up
20%.
An "entero"
(entire)
ticket
sells of
¢50.000
or
us$100
at
today's
exchange
rate,
while a
fraction
(1/40th)
sells
for
¢1.250
colones.

is
