Eight Slain in Guatemala
Guatemala - Eight people were killed
and another person wounded in an armed
attack on a home in the northwestern
Guatemalan province of San Marcos,
authorities said Tuesday.
A police source told Efe the massacre
occurred on Monday night in the village of
San Francisco when the victims were inside a
house and were shot by unknown gunmen.
Apparently, this is a rivalry among drug
traffickers, but security forces began an
investigation to develop full details on the
circumstances surrounding the killings, the
source added.
At the site of the attack, security forces
found 78 shell casings, the source said.
Three of the victims were identified as
Arturo Zacarias and his adult nephews Ervin
and Ademar.
Also killed were Milagro Merida, Edilson
Morales, Donald Perez, Cesar Vasquez and
Gerber Gudiel, while the wounded person
who was taken to a hospital has not been
