Honduran Embassy
In Nicaragua Denies Death Threats
Against Presidential Candidate
Managua - The Honduran
embassy in Managua denied on Wednesday
ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya's
alleged death threats against presidential
candidate Elvin Santos.
The embassy said in a communique that
Santos, candidate of the Liberal Party,
"continues hitting and slandering the
legitimate president of the Honduras, Jose
Manuel Zelaya Rosales." Santos was said to
have joined forces with de facto Honduran
President ManuelMicheletti in slandering his
rival Zelaya.
In the communique, Zelaya's work team
demanded "to present evidence of the
poisoned accusations in the Honduran media,
aimed at continuing to tarnish the
reputation of our legitimate president and
of the noble Honduran people who chose him
in elections."
Zelaya recently urged Hondurans not to
attend "any kind of elections" as long as he
was not restored to power.
Zelaya was ousted on June 28 and is
currently in Managua, where he has
established his operations center.
