Nicaraguans Nix Violations against The Five
Managua - The Nicaraguan Coordinating Office
of Solidarity with Cuba expressed on
Wednesday its strongest condemnation against
the violation of the human rights of five
anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US
prisons.
In a communiqué distributed to embassies and
international missions accredited to
Nicaragua and the local population in
several mass, public gatherings, the
Nicaraguan solidarity entity said that "we
want to express our concern and solidarity
with Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero,
Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino and Rene
Gonzalez, who have been unfairly held in US
prisons since September 12, 1998.
These Cubans were victims of "a trial full
of vices and nullities through which they
have been held in gringo dungeons," says the
text. We call on international bodies and
all governments worldwide, and mainly from
Latin America, to join the clamor of freedom
for the five comrades that for these 11
years have maintained a honorable stand,
loyal to the principles of the Cuban
Revolution, the document says.
The text adds that violations to their human
rights include the repeated denial of
humanitarian visas for their relatives to
visit them.
We demand this right to be respected in the
cases of Olga Salanueva and Adriana Perez,
the wives of Rene and Gerardo, respectively. |
