Heat Wave In Central Valley To Continue All
Week
The heat wave hitting the Central Valley
will be with us one week more according to
the Instituto Meterológico Nacional (IMN),
national weather service.
Temperatures have been several degrees
Celsius higher than normal, yesterday
reaching 29 Celsius in San José. But it's
not just the high temperatures, but the
strong sun that beats down with intensity,
in contrast to the rain that is typical for
this time of year.
Normally September and October are the
wettest months of the year. However, for the
eight days of September, there has been
little rain in San José. For August the IMN
says that there was 70% rain than usual.
Similar conditions are also in the areas of
Guanacaste where the average temperature
Tuesday reached 35 Celsius.
The heat and lack of rain is all due to the
influence of the phenomenon El Niño.
Best is to carry a bottle of water at all
times.
