US Military Bases in Colombia Debated
Bogota - The forum The US Bases in Colombia
and Consequences for Latin America continues
Saturday in Mexico, summoned by Venezuelan
officials and solidarity organizations.
Venezuelan deputies Calixto Ortega and
Francisco Torrealba arrived in Mexico to
denounce the US strategies to provision
military bases in Colombia.
The rightwing's reactions in the continent
against the Bolivarian process are being
also discussed in the meeting, inaugurated
Friday at the Venezuelan embassy.
Torrealba said during the inauguration the
bases recently set up in Colombia, some of
them near the border with Venezuela, are a
military reaction to the US policies'
failure in the last decade.
The official stated Washington and Bogota
have used the pretext of fighting drug
trafficking to aim at regional countries.
In the meantime, Ortega denounced on Friday
the Latin American rightwing has opened an
offensive against the Bolivarian process,
particularly its President Hugo Chavez. |
