Venezuelan Marches in Favor and
Against Chavez
Caracas - Supporters and detractors of the process
headed by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
will be demonstrating Saturday, with
authorities asking to do so peacefully.
From Teheran, Iran, Chavez has repeatedly
called upon opposition sectors to hold
peaceful marches. "Everybody knows the times
of repression, murder, and persecution were
the times of the IV Republic (1958-1998)",
he stressed.
He also asked supporters of his process to
demonstrate, because the street belongs to
the Revolution, not the bourgeoisie, he
said.
Meanwhile, Caracas' Mayor Jorge Rodriguez
stated the Interior and Justice Ministry
will watch over the people's safety.
Rodriguez encouraged the population to march
peacefully, and avoid violent acts like
those carried out by the opposition in the
last demonstration. |
