Dominican Literacy Project

Dominican authorities announced on Saturday
they will implement a program to teach a
substantial number of citizens to read and
write.
The project will comprise about 700,000
Dominicans over 15 years, in a four-year
term, aimed at eradicating illiteracy in the
country, the Education Ministry said.
The initiative will begin this year, with a
budget of nearly 16 million dollars. Experts
from the Cuban literacy program Yes, I Can,
implemented in several countries and in
different languages, will collaborate, it
was informed.
