Laura With 53% Support To Otto's 15% in Latest Poll

If the 2010 presidential elections were to be held today, Laura would be hands down winner, with a 53% support to according to Otto's 15.7%, according to the latest poll by Demoscopía for the Grupo Nación.

Laura Chinchilla, candidate for the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) is the clear front runner to her main rival, Otto Guevara of the Partido Movimiento Libertario (ML) for the Sunday, February 7, 2010 elections.

The poll results also indicate that Ottón Solís of the Partido Acción Cuidadana (PAC) has a 12.3% support, while the rest of the pack lack behind with Rolando Araya of the Alianza Patriótica party has a 3.7% support, while Luis Fishman of the La Unidad (PUSC party) a 1.5%, Oscar López of the PASE party 0.6% and Eugenio Trejos of the Frente Amplio party 0.2%.

The poll is only an indication of what might be, giving Chinchilla a commanding lead over her rivals, especially Ottón Solís, who came within a hair of beating Oscar Arias in the 2006 elections.

Laura, former vice-president and former Justice minister and a career politician is closer to her political aspirations of being president, following in the footsteps of her mentor, Oscar Arias, who has been chastised in the past for publicly supporting Laura.

There is still lots of time before the voters hit the polls and even though Laura has is now seen as the best candidate and the voters see her as president, they can be fickle and can change their mind at a whim.
