Get Ready To Say Goodbye To Rainy Season

The transition to the dry season or summer has begun, as we say goodbye to a rainy season or winter that was not so wet this year.

The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - Costa Rica's weather service - was predicting an early change over, a week earlier than normal, with the start of the season occurring between November 7 and 11 in the Northern Pacific region of Guanacaste, November 12 to 16 in the Central Valley (San José), between December 12 and 16 in the Central Pacific (Jacó and Quepos) and the first week in January for the Southern Pacific.

The Caribbean coast, however, is expected to receive up 20% more rain than usual for the months of November and December, according to the IMN forecast.

It is estimated that rain in October in the Central Valley and Pacific regions is 40% lower than normal for the season, all being blamed on the effects of El Niño.
