Belize Radio Stations Extol Co-op with
Cuba
BELMOPAN -
Radio stations in Belize
extolled on Monday the state of links with
Cuba and cooperation agreements signed
between both governments during a recent
visit to the Caribbean Island by Belizean
Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington.
Last week, Elrington led a Belizean
delegation that attended the 12th
Intergovernmental Meeting in Havana and
signed the Cooperation Protocol for
2009-2010, including collaboration
agreements in health, education,
agriculture, foreign relations, trade,
transportation and disaster management.
Radio stations including Estereo AMor, Love
FM and San Pedro Daily highlighted the
parties' intention to broaden bilateral
links and backed Belize's position in favor
of the Cuban struggle against the financial,
commercial, economic blockade imposed by the
United States for nearly half a century.
During his stay in Havana, Elrington
appreciated Cuba's support in implementing
several programs of exchange, despite
economic crisis and expressed his country's
interest in reciprocating the Caribbean
Island's assistance.
His agenda included visits to places of
historical and scientific interest and
meetings with his peer Bruno Rodriguez.
More than 250 Belizean youngsters are doing
studies in Cuba as part of collaboration
between the two nations. |
