Guatemala Keeps Cycling with Revitalized Leader

GUATEMALA - Once again, Guatemalan cyclist Nery Velasquez will be the leader of the Guatemala Cycling Tour after having lost his leading condition for just one stage.

Velazquez took the leadership after winning the 6th stage in a counterclock race between the southern cities of Escuintla and Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa, and came to the arriving line as first with a 3:24.21 hour timing, accumulating 15:54.19.

The leader was Guatemalan Johnny Morales, who fell when he arrived five mintes after most of the runners.

The second place was for Colombian Ismael Sarmiento and the third place for Costa Rican Juan Carlos Rojas.

The Sunday stage might be valuable for several runners to consolidate positions.
