Officials Concerned Over Second Wave of the
AH1N1
The ministerio de Salud (Health Ministry) is
concerned that the rain and cold weather of
November and December could cause the second
wave of the AH1N1 flu virus to be stronger
than predicted.
The rainfall in October is good news for
farmers, but not so good for those who could
become victim of the AH1N1 flu virus, which
Salud officials expect it to be more
aggressive and thus dangerous than the first
wave earlier this year.,
The concern is that the typical climatic
conditions for the last months of the year
are conducive to the spread and prolifiation
of virus, especially the AH1N1.
The first wave of the virus took 38 lives.
It is expected that the vaccine for the
AH1N1 will be available to those in the high
risk group by the end of the year, which
should ease somewhat the severity of the
infections and casualties. |
