Solidarity Decries Blockade of Cuba
PANAMA - Denunciations of the US blockade on
Cuba top the agenda of the tenth Solidarity
with Cuba Meeting Saturday in Panama, as
part of actions to support the island's
cause. Sources from the organizing committee
of solidarity with Cuba told Prensa Latina
the commissions holding sessions at the
University of Panama will focus on that
matter.
A related resolution is expected to be
signed at the end of the meeting, which is
attended by delegates from several
Panamanian provinces.
Miguel Angel Candanedo, honorary president
of the organizing committee, warned on the
importance to denounce the blockade as long
as that infamous imperialist action remains.
In the meantime, Cuban ambassador in Panama
Reinaldo Calviac recalled that the
Washington policy towards Havana is still
intact.
The US restrictive measures have left about
96 billion dollars in losses, along with
attempts to isolate Cuba from the rest of
the peoples from America and the world, the
diplomat stressed.
The case of the five Cuban anti-terrorist
unfairly imprisoned in US jails will also
center today's meeting.
