Investments Boosted in Nicaraguan Tourism

MANAGUA - The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR) decided to boost investments in this sector by increasing offers to visitors, reports the digital El19 daily.

Omar Oporta, legal director of INTUR informed that there is an injection of 129 dollars, a record figure for the sector allowing increasing accommodations to 1,200, among other features.

He pointed out that by 2009 23 projects have been approved that should generate 200 direct jobs and 544 permanent ones.

The highest construction cost approved previously in 2008 was 84 million dollars.

Figures of the so-called smokeless industry demonstrate that the country has 11,000 accommodations of which 7,000 are top quality.

The official explained that new hotels will be built this year, particularly in the southern and Pacific regions of the country.
