Carriers
BRASILIA - From the nearly 630,000
Brazilians which are estimated suffering
HIV/AIDS about 200,000 do not know that they
have the disease, according to details from
the Health Ministry spread by the World Day
against the illness.
The international Day of fight against the
HIV/AIDS will be held next Tuesday and the
Brazilian health ministry revealed a
research about the disease in this big South
American nation where disinformation on the
illness is one of the biggest concerns of
the health authorities.
One of the initiatives of the official
entity is to encourage voluntary test since
as earlier as you make the diagnosis there
will be greater possibility to life since
Brazil has free access to medicine and
antiretroviral cocktails.
The head of the security unit from the
Department of sexual transmissible
diseases/AIDS; and viral Hepatitis from the
Health Ministry Gerson Pereira assured to
the media that there is not problems with
the distribution of those medicines in the
country.
He also said that besides the very high rate
of people that do not know they are carriers
of this virus another problem is no use of
condoms to avoid infection with the disease
since from the 92 percent of the population
that said to be aware of the importance of
the condom only 60 percent use it.
Official statistics showed that women are
the most damaged in Brazil because of this
pre-concept even more accentuated in ages
between 13 and 19 years old. |
