Moderate Earthquake Shakes Costa Rica
An earthquake registering 5.2 on the
Richter scale shook Costa Rica on Friday,
without immediate report of material damages
and casualties.
The Vbservatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico
de Costa Rica (OVSICORI) confirmed the depth
to be 25 kilometres.
According to the OVISCORI, the earthquake is
not related to the one that occurred on
Thursday at 4:02 ppm, which registered 4.8,
located 9 km southeast of El Tejar del
Guaraco in Cartago.
According to the OVISCORI, the earthquake on
Friday was due to a local failure in the
Caribbean tectonic plate.
