Costa Rica To Receive The AH1N1 Vaccine By
Mid December
The AH1N1 vaccine is expected to arrive in
Costa Rica by the middle of December,
according to the ministra de Salud, María
Luisa Ávila, who on Tuesday confirmation by
the Organización Panamericana de la Salud
(OPS), who will be shipping to Costa Rica
the first 200.000 doses of the vaccine.
Ávila said that another 250.000 doses will
be arriving in Costa Rica in January 2010
and with the balance of the 1.8 million
doses allotted to Costa Rica arriving in the
first months of the new year.
The ministra said that th first group to
receive the vaccine are those in the high
risk group that includes medical care
workers in hospitals and clinics, patients
isolation and the intensive care units, as
wells a the Triage units.
The second group to receive the vaccien are
those with asthma and the obese, along with
the pregnant and the hypertense.
The ministerio de Salud is currently
investigating the death of two Nicaraguan
women that occurred in the past 10 days. If
the women are confirmed to have died from
the AH1N1, the total number of deaths in
Costa Rica from virus will be 40. |
