Nicaragua: Cuban brigade Progress in
Disability Study
MANAGUA - Cuba
brigade "Todos con voz" (all with voice)
will begin on Monday the fourth and last
phase of the disability study carried out in
the Nicaraguan department Matagalpa,
announced Miladys Orraca, who is the group´s
coordinator.
Cuban specialists begin the last phase after
an arduous work in the north and south of
the region, which is mostly mountainous and
where the main means of transportation are
horses or donkeys. The brigade walked up and
down the hills during many working days,
said Orraca.
The people are very supportive, said the
Cuban doctor. Nicaraguan countrymen, as same
as us, share the little they have with love
and solidarity, and that is something that
comforts and stimulates us.
In Masaya, 4,862 people with disabilities
were studied until October 28 and most of
the municipalities solved the serious cases
in that sector which according to Minister
of Health of Nicaragua Guillermo Gonzalez is
the most forgotten of the society.
Up until now, the Cuban brigade has seen
more than 26,000 people, who now have a
medical treatment.
The multidisciplinary team, which members
are also geneticists, orthopedists,
physiatrists and other specialists, carries
out a comprehensive work, pointed Orraca.
Cuban doctors will carry out their study in
the Nicaraguan territory and will carry out
other works related to health as the
prevention and the fight against dengue and
will also provide medicines to the
population to combat their diseases. |
