COSTA RICA

Bundle Up, It's Cold This Weekend

The Caribbean and the Northedn Zone will be inundated with rain today and tomorrow, as the country experiences the first cold spell of the season. The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) says four cold spells are expected between November and February.

Meanwhile, the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE), has declared a "green" alert for the Caribbean coast to warn the population to be prepared in the case of flooding.

The cold spell meant a drop of temperatures of a several of degrees from the normal.

The high forecast for San José today is 25 Celsius, while in Cartago, east of San José the mercury will drop another degree or more. See national forecast.

The cold spell is expected to linger over the weekend. On Monday normal temperatures are expected.
