Family In Appeal To Find Missing Brit In
Costa Rica
(UKPA) – The family of a British man who
went missing during a holiday to Costa Rica
is appealing for help to trace him. Michael
Dixon, 33, checked into the Villas Macondo
hotel in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, at 3pm on
October 18.
The last confirmed sighting of him was at
4.30pm the same day when staff saw him leave
the hotel, his brother David Dixon said.
Mr Dixon, who is currently in Costa Rica
searching for his brother, said: "We have
been here two weeks and we still have no
idea what's happened. It's very worrying.
"All his belongings were still in his room -
his phone, his glasses, his wallet.
Everything."
Mr Dixon, who was born in Salford but grew
up in France, was reported missing to local
police by hotel staff on October 21.
The Brussels-based journalist, who edits a
magazine for the pulp and paper industry,
failed to return to work on October 26.
Family members then flew to Costa Rica to
start the hunt and searches on foot, by boat
and by plane involving the Red Cross and
local volunteers have already been carried
out.
Mr Dixon's parents Lynn and Hubert, who live
in France, are making an appeal at a press
conference in central London on Friday.
His brother added: "We are working with
Costa Rican authorities, the British Foreign
Office and the Red Cross to find Michael,
but we would appreciate information from
local people in Tamarindo who may have seen
him in the town, especially on Sunday
October 18 or Monday October 19."
