Support for Sandinistas Keeps Growing
MANAGUA - A
year after sweeping to victory in the
municipal elections, those in favor of the
Sandinista National Liberation front (FSLN)
continue showing support for the government.
"We are not going to give in space for the
opposition to incite destabilizing actions
against the government," said Jacinto
Suarez, deputy and president of the Central
American Parliament (PARLACEN).
The FSLN prevails on the streets, because
"we are more in number," the official said
alluding to clashes between Sandinistas and
opposition sectors in the last days.
Suarez criticized those who want to make
believe that there is a civil war in the
country, and clarified that the opposition
tries to use streets for their actions, and
Sandinistas do not want to allow it.
Regarding that, National Workers' Federation
(FNT) General Secretary Gustavo Porras
announced that the Sandinistas would take
the streets of the capital until November
25, assuming our commitment to struggle and
celebrating our people's victory.
The situation sometimes results in violent
incidents, because the main metropolitan
traffic circles are taken by the people, who
are facing provocations by the minority
liberal opposition.
