Colombian FARC against US Bases
BOGOTA - The
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC)
called on the people to close ranks against
the agreement that allows the United States
to use seven military bases in the national
territory.
In a communique addressed to Colombian
military of honor and the people in general,
FARC urges them to defend the country's
sovereignty and Latin American dignity,
which have been "deeply tarnished with
disgrace, blood, corruption and servility by
President Alvaro Uribe."
The insurgent group says that without even
blushing, as he lacks dignity, Uribe
accepted the installation by the Empire of
seven military bases in Colombia that will
be as a poisoned dagger plunged into the
body of the Homeland, with its tip hurting
the very same heart of Latin America.
The guerrilla adds that the only objective
of the agreement is to thwart the
democratic, pro-integration process of the
peoples who, led by the Bolivarian Alliance
of the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA), have
continued the unfinished liberating project
started by Simon Bolivar, the Liberator.
According to FARC, Uribe's decision to allow
the installation of seven US bases in
Colombian territory is an act of high
treason to the Latin American Homeland.
