Lula to
London, Given Chatham House Award
BRASILIA - Brazilian President Luiz
Inacio Lula da Silva will travel Tuesday to
Britain where he is to meet with the UK
Prime Minister and attend a business
seminar.
President Lula will hold talks Wednesday
with Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the
state of bilateral ties, the global
financial crisis, the stranded Round of
Doha, climate change and the 2010 Alliance
of Civilizations Forum in Brazil.
They will also address the Brazilian
candidature to a permanent Security Council
membership and sign a sports cooperation
memo for potential British support to
arrange the 2016 Olympics in Rio, based on
its experience as venue of the 2012 edition.
Lula will be presented Thursday the Chatham
House Award for boosting Brazil's global
projection as crisis settler, namely its
involvement in the peace mission in Haiti.
Cabinet spokesman Marcelo Baumbach added
that Lula will attend Thursday the seminar
Investing in Brazil, sponsored by Financial
Times and Valor Economico dailies. |
