Pavas Airport Not A Concern For Health Officials

Although precautions have been taken at the Juan Santamaria (San Jose) international airport against the swine flu, the same is not the case at the Aeropuerto Internacional Tobías Bolaños or Pavas airport as it is more commonly known.

The airport, which handles mainly domestic and private flights, also receives international flights, including Mexico and the United States.

Carlos Ramírez, cheif of customers operations at the airport, said that his employees have not been equipped with masks and gloves and are totally exposed when checking luggage.

Ramírez added that the airport is a mixture of national and international passengers and has airport employees concerned of the lack of attention by airport and health officials.

At risk are also the transportation services, like buses, taxis and limousine services at the airport.
