Costa Ricans Need Not Pay Visa To Visit Nicaragua

In an attempt to boost toursim, Nicaraguan president, Daniel Ortega, on Saturday signed an executive order that eliminates the us$25 visa fee to be paid by Costa Ricans to enter Nicaragua.

Earlier this month, Ortega signed another executive order that eliminated visa for any foreigner wanting to visit Nicaragua.

"Were tourism is progressing, poverty is defeated", are the words Ortega has repeated many times lately.

The Nicaraguan president also signed off his approval of the "Ley de Promoción de Residentes Pensionados y Residentes Rentistas" which promotes residency in Nicaragua for retired foreigners.

Ortega said he will be sending the proposal to the Legislature for approval.
