Heredia Train Start Delayed. Again.

The Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (Incofer), just cannot seem to get the Heredia train on the right track.

Following months of delays, from problems with the tracks to delays in the overhaul and rectification of the Spanish trains purchased by Incofer to provide service between San Jose and Heredia, the today (June 30) start date will have to be put off even further.

The delay this time is due to a complaing filed by a company located on the edge of the tracks which has to be analyzed by the Tribunal Contencioso Administrativo before the trains can start rolling.

The company alleges that the work on the railway affects the "stability" of the property, even though two independent engineering companies have said that the clean up work of the tracks carried by INCOFER does not negatively impact the property in question.

So, the Heredia trains will stay in the station until the legal problem is resolved, while thousands wait to board the train that would considerably cut down their travel time to and from work, and ease traffic congestion between Heredia and San Jose.
