Bolivia to Host 7th ALBA Summit

La Paz - The Bolivian local media on Saturday headlined the 7th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) to be held in Cochabamba on Sep. 25th.

The announcement was made here yesterday by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez after meeting with Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Both statement, together with other leader from the region attended the ceremony for the 200th anniversary of the beginning of Bolivia's struggle for independence in 1809.

Chavez called the upcoming ALBA Summit an important tool for the process of integration being promoted in Latin America by bloc members (Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Vincent and the Grenadines).

According to the Venezuelan President, the ALBA bloc is at the offensive following Honduras coup against constitutional president Manuel Zelaya.

ALBA has also urged the United States to lift its unilateral blockade of Cuba.
