Bolivia to Host 7th ALBA Summit
La Paz - The Bolivian local media on
Saturday headlined the 7th Summit of the Bolivarian
Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) to be held in
Cochabamba on Sep. 25th.
The announcement was made here yesterday by
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez after meeting with
Bolivian President Evo Morales.
Both statement, together with other leader from the
region attended the ceremony for the 200th
anniversary of the beginning of Bolivia's struggle
for independence in 1809.
Chavez called the upcoming ALBA Summit an important
tool for the process of integration being promoted
in Latin America by bloc members (Venezuela, Cuba,
Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominica,
Antigua and Barbuda and St. Vincent and the
Grenadines).
According to the Venezuelan President, the ALBA bloc
is at the offensive following Honduras coup against
constitutional president Manuel Zelaya.
ALBA has also urged the United States to lift its
unilateral blockade of Cuba. |
