Summit Demands Posada Extradition

Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt -  The 15th Non Aligned Summit (NOAL) backed Thursday Venezuela''s extradition demand of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles for shooting down a Cubana Airlines plane killing 73 passengers.

The Sharm El-Sheikh meeting expressed support of Caracas's demand to the US government to hand over the person responsible for the October 1976 crime.

The document rejected protection of individuals accused of commiting criminal acts in Venezuela, violating resolutions of UN Security Council and its General Assembly to avoid all forms of terrorism.

The refusal to extradite Posada Carriles, added the text, hinders the Venezuelan authorities' efforts to put him before the court.

According to the final document of the 15th Summit the Movement urged Washington to fulfill the demand for Posada Carriles extradition under charges of terrorism in Venezuela.

The Heads of State also declared themselves in favor of Constitutional President Hugo Chavez against what they considered an aggressive policy of the White House.

According to the final text of the Summit the South American people have the right to elect their own form of government and determine the economic, social and political system without any interference from abroad.

The declaration of the Summit also added concern for the increasing intelligence activity against Venezuela and Cuba and decried attempts and recent plots against President Hugo Chavez life.

The Summit ended with a Final Declaration, the Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration and special documents against the blockade of Cuba, solidarity with Palestine and Nelson Mandela International Day.
