Protests Continue in Peru

Lima -  Social protests continue in several Peruvian regions for a third day, with people expressing their dissatisfaction with the current economic policy.

The southern Puno Andean regions and Ayacucho and Huancavelica central regions entered into third day of huge general strikes with their demands joining in the national days of protests.

In Puno traffic was again paralyzed, for the third day, and passage to the Bolivian border also blocked, while in Ayacucho and Huancavelica strikes are considered overwhelming.

The southern Arequipa city was also brought to a halt Wednesday and Thursday with different areas of the city experiencing a teachers' national strike as well as one of the urban transportation workers.

A demonstration was held in Lima in which opposition leader Ollanta Humala Lima called for unity of the left-wing forces and social organizations demanding a change to the economic and politic model.
