Gas Price Hike
Approved: ¢78 Per Litre of Super
Brace yourself with higher gasoline prices
as early as next week, when the latest round
of price hikes approved by the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
take effect.
The price of a litre of super gasoline will
increase by ¢78 colones, regular ¢79 and
diesel ¢62.
The increase means the prices at the pump
will push up from ¢492 to ¢570 for a litre
of super; regular goes from ¢472 to ¢551;
and diesel prices jump from ¢400 to ¢462.
The new prices are expected to take effect
before the end of the week next week.
The increase is based on internationa oil
prices between May 28 and June 11, which
showed a significant increase and does not
reflect the drops since.
Costa Rican fuel prices tend to be way
behind international prices, in a formula
agreed up by the state refinery, Refinadora
Costarricense de Petroleo (RECOPE) and the
government regulator of public prices and
services. |
