Work Begins On Replacing Alajuelita Rotonda With An Underpass

Arm yourself with more patience if driving on the Circunvalacion near the Alajuelita rotonda, which is being readied for the construction of an underpass.

Traffic congestion in the area is expected to increase as work crews begin cutting down trees and moving power lines, in preparation of the excavation and building of a bridge to replace the rotonda.

The contract was given to Meco, according to Pedro Castro, viceministro de Obras Públicas and to cost ¢5.5 billion colones.

The rotonda will be replaced to a similar structure the San Sebastian underpass and be ready by April 2010.
