Inter-oceanic Corridor Assessed in Bolivia

Bolivia - Public Works
ministers of Bolivia, Chile, and Brazil will be
meeting here on Saturday to evaluate progress in the
construction of the so-called inter-oceanic corridor
that will link those countries.
In the meeting, the officials plan to define
infrastructure and economic policies of the work,
conceived as a way to guarantee physical integration
and strengthen regional development.
The head of the communications office of the
Bolivian Public Works Ministry, Rolando Zubieta,
told Prensa Latina the three nations will elaborate
a report on the current situation of construction
plans.
The way will link the Brazilian port of Santos with
those of Arica and Iquique in Chile, and will cross
the Bolivian regions of Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, and
Oruro.
The Bolivian Road Administration noted that of the
about 3,635 miles long corridor, some 949 miles
belong to the national territory, and about 743.7
miles have been paved already.
The project's agreement way was made official in
December 2007 in La Paz, by the presidents of the
three nations. |
