Colombia International Son Festival
Bogota - A warm welcome was given to participants to
the 1st Cartagena-La Habana Son Festival in
Cartagena, a Colombian city that shares cultural
similarities with Havana.
The Musicians with the best of their repertoire,
filmmakers, experts and journalists helped create an
international cultural bridge involving Venezuela
and Panama as well.
Cuba was represented by the Arsenio Rodriguez band,
Jazz singer Bobby Carcasses, renowned tres guitar
player and composer of the festival main theme Juan
de la Cruz "Coto".
Also present were flute player Joaquin Oliveros,
musicologist Jose Reyes Fortun and promoter Ricardo
Oropesa.
Mayor Judith Pinedo noted the power of Cuban music
in Cartagena but the Festival also featured photo
expos and displayed five documentary films on
musical groups from the region, adding to Caribbean
integration. |
