Venezuelans Fundraising before Vote
Caracas - The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)
continues fundraising for a referendum on a constitutional reform
that would allow for successive re-election of public posts.
Both PSUV Members and supporters of the process President Hugo
Chavez has been heading since 1999 have deposited their
contributions in national branches of BANFOANDES bank since
Saturday, and can do so until Thursday.
PSUV Vice President Jorge Rodriguez pointed out about 558,000
dollars were collected in only one day of the so called One Day
Salary campaign.
He informed pro-referendum activities are paid with money given by
PSUV members and supporters, and urged opposition sectors to account
for the origin of their funding.
For their mobilization, the proposal's defenders have already
created some 134,000 pro-referendum committees.
