Argentinian Repressor to Answer for Missing People
Buenos Aires - Argentinian ex Colonel Hugo Carlos Fantoni, accused of direct participation in the arrest and later disappearance of 16 people during the last dictatorship (1976-83), will appear in court on Wednesday to make a statement.

The ex repressor was internationally wanted for crimes against humanity, by request of the Bahia Blanca city federal court.

Judicial sources reported that Fantoni will make a statement before Judge Victor Gabriel Staniscia and will be transferred later to the city of Buenos Aires.

Agents of the Justice Ministry and the International Police (INTERPOL) arrested on January 21 the ex military officer, who performed as officer of the 4th Army Corps from 1973-77.

Colonels (r) Luis Alberto Gonzalez and Carlos Alberto Taffarel, and Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Horacio Garcia remain as fugitives for the time being.

Of the wanted group, only ex Colonel Norberto Eduardo Condal was captured.

Human Rights authorities asserted that the number of those executed reached 30,000, under the so called National Reorganization Program, during the military regime.
