Argentinian Repressor to Answer for
Missing People

ex Colonel Hugo Carlos Fantoni, accused of direct participation in
the arrest and later disappearance of 16 people during the last
dictatorship (1976-83), will appear in court on Wednesday to make a
statement.
The ex repressor was internationally wanted for crimes against
humanity, by request of the Bahia Blanca city federal court.
Judicial sources reported that Fantoni will make a statement before
Judge Victor Gabriel Staniscia and will be transferred later to the
city of Buenos Aires.
Agents of the Justice Ministry and the International Police
(INTERPOL) arrested on January 21 the ex military officer, who
performed as officer of the 4th Army Corps from 1973-77.
Colonels (r) Luis Alberto Gonzalez and Carlos Alberto Taffarel, and
Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Horacio Garcia remain as fugitives for the
time being.
Of the wanted group, only ex Colonel Norberto Eduardo Condal was
captured.
Human Rights authorities asserted that the number of those executed
reached 30,000, under the so called National Reorganization Program,
during the military regime.
