Chavez Rules out Coup in Venezuela

CARACAS - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that moral strength of the Bolivarian National Armed Force makes impossible any coup d etat in that country, an scenario forecast by a US journal.

"They will have to import an army to carry out a coup in Venezuela", the President said during a Christmas address to the nation.

According to Chavez, opposition sectors in the country and abroad count on that to topple him as they tried in 2002.

The President's remarks respond to recent forecast made in Newsweek magazine based on their desire and on the hate US imperialism feels towards us.

According to Chavez if the opposition acted violently against the stability of the country, the army and people's response would be resounding and legally implacable.

"If they try to do something against the country, our people and National Armed Force counterattack will be tough, although within constitutional terms ", the President said.
