Residents Protest Against Tolls At Piedades
A group of residents of Piedades de Santa
Ana blocked traffic for almost an hour at
the toll booths on the San José - Caldera,
protesting against the ˘160 colones toll at
Piedades.
The residents have maintained their protest
against the planned toll on a section of the
highway that they say will force the use the
old road, blocking access to their homes.
The morning protest was short, but enough to
disrupt traffic from the Santa Ana exit to
the Cuidad Colon.
Protesters lifted the blockade at 9:05am,
but called on all residents to join the
protest planned for 4pm today.
The gathering is to be at 3pm in front of
the Piedades church, where organizers will
then march on foot and by caravan to again
block the highway.
