Police Detain Two Women Linked To Gang Who
Lured Male Victims
Imagines yourself a man sitting in a
downtown San José bar and being approached
by one or two attractive women proposing a
romantic encounter. The scenario is not
uncommon, however, in some cases it came
with a twist, the women were using their
assets to lure the men to rob them.
The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ)
director, Jorge Rojas, announced yesterday
that his agents had detained two women,
described as young and attractive, who
dedicated themselves to this activity.
The women identified by their last name
Luna, 20, and Arthur, 21, would target their
victims in downtown bars, lure them with
their charms and proposal to another
location, where with the aid of male
accomplices who would force the men to visit
ATM machines to take what they could in what
is called the "paseo millionario".
Rojas said the women would carefully select
their victim, seduce them with a proposal of
an intimate encounter, where they would then
be stripped of their valuables.
The detention of the two women was part of a
raid on several homes in Guadalupe and Agua
Caliente de Cartago.
The OIJ director said that the victims would
be taken to ATM machines of private banks
that are not turned off at 10pm like those
of the state banks.
There are least five cases under
investigation tied to the two women, but do
not discard there are more by men who have
not, for whatever reason, not filed a police
report.
Rojas did not name the bars that were
frequented by the women, nor if there were
any tourists among the victims. |
