Que Berraco! Colombian Wins Vuelta a Costa Rica Championship

Colombian Janier Acevedo was the winner oof the Vuelta a Costa Rica 2009 in the last stage of competition from San Isidro de El General to San José.

Acevedo is the first foreigner in five years to win the Vuelta.

The last foreigner to win the Vuelta was Israel Ochoa, also of Colombia, back in 2004.

In the last 20 races, the Vuelta championship has been won by Colombians on 9 occasions. A Mexican took the race in 1999 and the rest by won by Costa Ricans.

Last year, Costa Rican Gregory Brenes took the race. This year Brenes has to settle for second place.

The 2009 classification stands at:
