525.000 Vehicles Yet To Pay 2010 Marchamo
With only three days to go, half of the
owners of vehicles in Costa Rica has yet to
pay their annual vehicular circulation
permit, the 2010 Marchamo.
According to the Instituto Nacional de
Seguros (INS), the state insurance company
in charge of collecting the Marchamo, there
are 525.
000 vehicles or 52% of all vehicles in Costa
Rica, that have yet to pay.
The Marchamo can be paid at most banks,
authorized insurance offices and the INS.
The 2010 Marchamo is due on December 31,
2009. Beginning on January 1, 2010, owners
of vehicle circulating without the Marchamo
are exposed to a fine and or confiscation of
the license plate and/or vehicle.
In addition, the INS begins charging late
fees.
The vehicular inspection service, Riteve,
reports that it has appointments available
to inspect those vehicles that do not have
the "riteve" certificate, a requirement to
pay the Marchamo.
