Venezuela Predicts Anti-US Interference

CARACAS - enezuelan President Hugo Chavez
asserted on Sunday that the US
interventionist policy in Latin America will
bring challenges and struggles in 2010 to
preserve integrity and sovereignty of the
regional countries.
"It will not be an easy year. The
international rightwing parties are planning
to reverse the emancipation process thast
our America is undergoing," he warned.
The leader said that the June 28 coup in
Honduras and the establishment of seven US
military bases in Colombia are the arguments
for his prediction.
Nobody should claim to have been cheated.
The Obama hope is over, and the shameless
interventionist policy by the new US
administration has proven so, he said.
According to the statesman, the Latin
American peoples will have to be alert in
2010 to face the challenge generated by the
White House's aggressiveness. Then, let us
be ready to defend our sovereignty in all
fields, Chavez stated.
Regarding the coup that removed Honduras
Constitutional President Manuel Zelaya from
power, Chavez said it gave birth to a
dangerous destabilizing variant.
The rightwing parties of all countries in
our region have now a new coup model for the
21st century: coups with legal facades made
in USA, he said.
To the top Venezuelan United Socialist Party
leader, 2010 will also bring challenges to
save the planet in front of the
anti-ecological behaviour of the developed
nations that was evidenced in the recently
held Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen.
In that reference, Chavez called to create
international mechanisms to involve those
responsible for the planet's deterioration
in the actions to preserve it. |
