Eight Deaths During Christmas
This year Christmas was bloody, with eight
"violent" deaths in one single day in
traffic accidents, fights and suicides.
The Cruz Roja (Red Cross) and the Organismo
de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) report eight
deaths between December 24 and 25.
The OIJ is investigating the murder of two
following a fight and two suicides. The
Policía de Tránsito are investigating the
death of four people in traffic accidents,
including that of a motorcyclist who
collided with a vehicle in Cartago and two
people hit by a vehicle in Sarapiquí and
Guacimo.
The death toll for the same period last year
was 4, while in 2007 the toll was 15.
Four families in Barrio Los Angeles in San
José lost it all in an early Christmas day
fire that consumed all four homes quickly.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire.
