Must Respect INTERPOL, Venezuela
CARACAS - Venezuelan Foreign Minister
Nicolas Maduro urged the US to respect the
INTERPOL co-operation tools and hand over
fleeing banker Eligio Cedeño detained in
Miami.
The demand follows rumors on a political
asylum request by ex president of the banks
Bolivar and Canarias, who fled Caracas amid
ongoing probe.
In press briefing at Miraflores Palace,
Maduro added that approving such request
would be like mocking the mechanisms of
police collaboration.
Maduro said Venezuela began extradition
arrangements and submitted all due
information on Cedeño, now under custody,
and expects fair US response.
Venezuela frequently reminds that the US
shelters terrorist Luis Posada Carriles who
bombed in 1976 a Cuban commercial plane with
73 people aboard.
Posada Carriles fled a Venezuelan jail and
lives now in Miami, but the US has plaid a
deaf ear to Caracas extradition request. |
