Panama Economy to Grow in 2010
PANAMA - The Panamanian industrial sector is
optimistic about economic prospects for next
year, projected to grow over 4.5 percent.
Forecasts are based on the Industrial
Promotion Law and investments from other
countries, including Colombia and Venezuela,
as well as certificates to promote
agricultural imports, designed to boost the
marketing of goods in the international
market. Regarding 2009, representatives of
the industrial sector highlighted the growth
in food, drink and textile production,
printing, edition and manufacture of plastic
goods.
Preliminary figures reflect that the
Panamanian labour market has registered a
growth of 2 percent, with an unemployment
rate of 6.6 percent.
