Consolation Draw The Following Sunday
Didn't win Sunday night's big lottery, the
"Gordo Navideño"? Not to worry, the
consolation draw is already on the streets.
Monday morning, within hours of the big draw
on Sunday night, lottery vendors began
calling out numbers for consolation draw
this Sunday, December 20, that pays out a
total of ¢900 million colones in prizes, the
main prize being ¢180 million for an "entero"
(entire ticket" and ¢9 million for a "fracción"
(fraction).
The Junta de Protección Social said that
426.615 tickets were already on the streets
by Monday afternoon, less than 24 hours of
the gordo draw.
The cost of the consolation draw tickets is
¢10.000 for an entero and ¢500 for a
fracción.
But, if you don't win that one either, there
is another consolation draw scheduled for
Sunday December 27, where the big prize will
be ¢140 million for an entero and ¢7 million
for a fracción.
The cost of the second consolation draw
tickets is ¢8.000 for an entero and ¢400 for
a fracción.
And, if you don't win that either, there are
the regular lottery draws beginning in the
New Year.
